Day 24 in Delhi

Yesterday I was driven by one of the hotel people to and from the Albion offices which are not too bad all things considered. As you would expect, the driver had a hat and uniform too.

Managed to meet everyone at Albion and proceed on messing up names or forgetting who is who. I was introduced to around 30 people, so just lost track completely. Mistakes so far… Continue Reading

Movie showing and restaurant

Just got back from the movie showing the hotel did for a few guests. Met a few fellow British people that are staying here too. The film that was played was Avatar which is decent enough on a large projector screen. Continue Reading

Day 21 in Delhi

I posted this on Twitter and Facebook yesterday evening, but to brag again on my website now I have time… I have completed the course at Koenig Solutions and I am now a Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Administrator. Continue Reading

Day ten in Delhi

Not made a full post for a while as things have really ramped up in terms of the speed at which subjects are covered so I have been having to spend most of my time studying.

So far, I have passed two exams, which means I am a Microsoft Certified Professional now, with access to the mcp.microsoft.com website. Continue Reading

Day three in Delhi

Just finished the first two days of  the boot camp and have completed going over course book 6292A, Installing and Configuring Windows 7 Client as well as started work on 6421A, Configuring and Troubleshooting a Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure. Continue Reading

Day one in Delhi

So far, I have settled in, gotten to know fellow students also staying in this apartment as well as some of the staff and taken a little walk round and figure out what Delhi is like.

First up… Delhi contrasts everywhere in buildings, landscapes and people. Its neat but even with the chaos of the traffic, everything seems more relaxed. When we checked the local shops, it was all very slow paced. Continue Reading

Delhi & Microsoft Certification

Having negotiated for some training in this years staff appraisal among other things, later this year I am now travelling to Delhi to do some work out there and also take a course for a Microsoft Certification.

The Microsoft Certification I am working towards is called MCITP: Enterprise Administrator and handily covers pretty much everything I do in my job, but should teach me the correct way of doing things or help me understand why things are done as well as how to correctly do them. So over a short space of time I will have to study for and take five exams…

Exam 70-680: Windows 7, Configuring
Exam 70-642: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring
Exam 70-640: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring
Exam 70-643: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuring
Exam 70-647: Windows Server 2008, Enterprise Administrator

If the pre-exam knowledge tests are anything to go by its going to be a tough few weeks, so I have already started early with my studying. It should be ok as I am quick at learning anything IT related so I am confident.

While not studying or working in Delhi, I will try to make time to be a tourist though, although exactly what I will go and see is yet to be decided. Suggestions?

Losing time to Minecraft

Over the past few weeks I have been pretty distracted by a new game called Minecraft. Still in development so it has its bugs, but for 10 euros its good value for money considering how much time I have enjoyed it.

Within the game you basically have this massive randomly generated world that has no boundary’s and allows you to mine resources and build whatever you can imagine. Sounds good, but you also have some great “redstone” mechanics to makes things complicated too.

Various objects you can craft can generate or receive power via redstone and this allows you to create anything from simple switches to open doors to computational machines capable of performing mathematics.

We run a private multiplayer server where a few of us from the Volition Cult community create things on a single world, below are some of the things we have created so far. (Click images for descriptions.)

I have to get back to playing Eve tomorrow though as I have neglected her. But its hard as I just don’t have the time to play all the games I need to play. With the new World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion coming soon, new Assassins Creed and Call of Duty games due really soon its really tough to keep up with everything.

Even with these problems, its still been a great weekend as I got to enjoy more Krusty Kreme donuts. One of my work colleague from our London office came to Bath. Normally this is bad as they tend to bring me work to do, but this time I was bribed with Krusty Kreme donuts! Technically as I get paid to manage IT, that includes helping users anyway but sugar brides work too.

I have noticed that some of my colleagues in Bath have started to learn that if they offer to make me hot chocolate, I prioritise there requests over others… I fall for that “trap” every time it seems.

Anyway… Merlin has finally appeared on iPlayer so that’s all for now.

/me is afk.
